Artist statement 

My practice explores relationships between natural processes, material transformation and our perception of space. Working across materials, I draw on natural forms shaped through different epochs and processes.

I am interested in surface as an active threshold: a gathered zone where history, materiality, time and space are compressed into the planes upon which they have been inscribed. Ornament and pattern hold physical traces of natural and constructed transformations, suggesting structures and forces that extend beneath and beyond their visible surfaces.

Often intimate in scale, individual elements enter into relationships, forming physical constellations within the architecture. Through hollows, reflections and openings, one space appears within another. As light changes and the viewer moves, these constellations emerge, shift, linger and recede.

The work extends through these nested spaces, from a single fragment to the room and towards a wider field. At times, it appears to contain itself as a frame, whilst simultaneously extending beyond it. Boundaries become thresholds — an “almost” moment, where presence may seem on the verge of disappearance or transformation.
